Thank You for Your Purchase Email (A Repeat-Purchase Nudge That Isn't Salesy)

When to send this

A few days after the purchase, once they've actually used it. A thank-you plus a discount code sent the same day arrives before they've experienced any value — which makes it just an ad.

Thank-you + repeat-purchase nudge
Hi [Name], Thank you so much for your order! I hope the [item] is working out well for you 😊 A little thank-you: show this email on your next visit for [offer], valid through [date]. Hope to see you again soon! Best, [Your name / business]

The most common mistake

Putting gratitude and a promotion in the same breath. Mixed together, the thank-you reads as setup, and all they remember is that you were selling. If you include an offer, put it on the last line and keep it light — let the thanks land first.

Variant: when the situation is different

More effective than a discount: tell them how to get more out of what they bought (care instructions, what pairs well, the common mistake people make with it). These emails actually get read, and they build the impression that you know your stuff — which is the real reason people come back.

After you send it

If you know roughly how long the product lasts, send a second email as they're running out. That one converts far better than a randomly timed promotion, purely because the timing is right.
